Blacktown-based artist, Kristone Capistrano, returns with eight quick tips for realistic portraits. In the short clip, he covers everything from the downfalls of smudging with your fingers to the benefits of constantly readjusting.
Kristone Capistrano is a Philippine-born contemporary artist working across an expanded field of drawing and portraiture, ranging from works on paper, the moving image and community collaborations. His practice is shaped by the Incarnational traditions of Filipino figurative art, approaching the human face as mysterious sites of transcendence.
Kristone has exhibited solo and collectively in Australia and Asia. He has been awarded the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture, the Royal South Australian Portrait Biennale and the Blacktown Local Artist Prize. Currently, he is working towards a public art commission for the new Aerotropolis Metro Station, set to open in 2025. A multi-screen, dance, drawing and video work, produced in conversation with the landscape and architecture of the Aerotropolis station.
