About this object'Untitled (Figures)' was made whilst the artist practiced in her Warrimoo and Rooty Hill studios. It is reflective of Celia Featherstone’s later style: expressive figure drawings with movement, colour and atmosphere. The artwork is featured in the monograph, ‘Unfolding the Art of Celia Featherstone’, published 2023.
Celia Featherstone has lived and practiced in the greater western Sydney area for the last 18 years. She is a former Blacktown City Art Prize finalist (2008) and regularly attended the Blacktown Arts’ Open Studio program.
She recently participated in the ‘From the Studio’ exhibitions at the Max Webber Library, Dennis Johnson Library and The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre; and was a finalist in the Access Artybald Prize at Front Up Studios, Seven Hills, and at The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre in 2022.
Celia Featherstone’s significant artist monograph was launched at The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre on 26 August 2023.
Celia Featherstone studied numerous art courses at Western Sydney TAFE from 2006 to 2017 and established bonds with local artists, curators and community members, and she has been a mentor to many art students. She has participated in workshops, events and courses throughout Blacktown, Parramatta, Penrith and the lower Blue Mountains – including the MCA’s recent Skirts project with artist Linda Brescia and Senior Curator Pedro De Almeida.
