We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this Land, the Dharug people, and their continued connection to Country.
We pay our respects to Elders from yesterday to tomorrow.
We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples of Blacktown City where the flannel flowers still grow proud and strong.
We will walk softly on this land and open our hearts to Country as the Dharug people have for tens of thousands of years.

Name/TitleAng Pambansang Kamao
About this object'Ang Pambansang Kamao (The Nation's Fist) features dual portraits of Filipino figure Manny Pacquiao. He is depicted in his most well-known persona as a world champion boxer, and as his lesser-known role as a congressman (more recently, announcing his intention to run as Senator).
'The portraits overlap in negative colours, and in painted wooden and banana leaf textures. Although painted on a canvas support, the background is painted to mimic plywood with the linear outline of the American dollar note.
'The artwork is a reflection upon autobiographical experiences of being Filipino-Australian, using Pacquiao to depict two different personas and expressing both acceptance and rejection simultaneously. The artwork draws parallels between my own bi-culturalism and the heavy influence of American culture in Filipino life, high-end and low-end material, and the notion of imitation.'
