Summer 2023

Blacktown Arts brings the heat to Blacktown City in 2023 with our energetic summer season.

Acknowledging our place on Darug land, Elders in Residence returns to connect us with stories of the deep past and First Nations culture.

We open with the 2022/23 Blacktown City Art Prize and Young Artist Prize exhibitions, showcasing artists from across Australia and talented young people in Blacktown.

Families, discover a new world of music for little ears with A Music Adventure – Emily Who & Sydney Symphony Orchestra, get creative and try something new at Family Day, and enjoy some yummy eats and summer beats with Summer Music at Foodie Fridays.

We are thrilled to present I Talk Through My Art and My Art Talks Through Me, a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition by Blacktown artistic treasure, Ngemba artist Danny Eastwood, accompanied by a special weaving workshop with Ngiyampaa and Guringai artist Tarni Eastwood.

Lastly, we introduce Summer Making, a suite of creative activities by a selection of western Sydney’s most exciting artists. Join 2022/23 Blacktown City Art Prize-winner Peter Rush and street artist Sam Absurd for sketching and illustration, alongside our weekly Open Studio, facilitated by artist and mentor Patrice Wills.

Stay local this summer with Blacktown Arts!
