See and hear firsthand the ancient musical and celebratory traditions of the Tamil people during Blacktown Arts’ Tamil Drumming (Parai) Festival 2020.
Taking place on 15 March, the 2020 cultural gathering will feature a range of exciting performances on the 2000-year-old Tamil Drum (Parai) accompanied by beautiful, colourful folk dancing.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to pick up a Parai for themselves and learn the basics during two workshops:
- 10.30 am – 11.30 am: Introduction of Parai – a basic lesson of the ancient instrument
- 2.30 pm – 3.00 pm: Drumming Beats – feel, learn and play the basic beats
