Get ready to learn how to strut, apply drag makeup and write creatively in this extravaganza of workshops to discover queer culture through the lens of First Nations artists.
Kolor Me Kweer includes 10 development workshops facilitated by First Nations industry professionals followed by performances of Queer Stories and a red-carpet cat walk event in the heart of Blacktown CBD.
Kolor Me Kweer is created in partnership with First Nations producer Steve Ross and aims to connect with Blacktown’s local LGBTQIA+ community as well as to support emerging artists and the next generation of queer performers and writers.
So get ready to go west and sashay the Blacktown way!

Strutt Dance Workshop
Ever wanted to dance in heels? Learn how to keep your balance, move with the music and walk like you own the joint in a fun, high energy, body-positive workshop teaching choreography suited for all levels of experience. The workshops will culminate in a ‘walk-off’ where you will be able to practices your moves and best strut as well as a final red-carpet cat walk performance.

Drag Makeup Workshop
In a real dressing room backstage, participants will be taken through the steps in creating a full glamour face for drag performance. Learn contouring, shading, use of eyelash extensions, colour, how to choose the right make-up design for your performance.

Kweer Writing Workshop
Queer writing has an established history for revealing and celebrating the lives of the LGBTQIA+ community. Add your story to history in these inclusive workshops designed to bring out your personal writing style using autobiographical writing techniques and reflection.
