The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre is an innovative multi-arts hub located in the heart of Blacktown, a short walk from the railway station.

Tamil Drumming (Parai) Festival 2020

15 March | 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

See and hear firsthand ancient musical and celebratory traditions during the Multicultural Drumming Festival 2020.

Taking place on 15 March, the 2020 cultural gathering will feature a range of exciting performances on ancient multicultural drums accompanied by beautiful, colourful folk dancing.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to pick up a drum for themselves and learn the basics during two workshops:

  • 10.30 am – 11.30 am: Introduction of the drum – a basic lesson of the ancient instrument
  • 2.30 pm – 3.00 pm: Drumming Beats – feel, learn and play the basic beats
