A Sheet as sail | Brian Fuata

Brian Fuata

A Sheet as sail continues Brian Fuata’s long standing practice of structured improvisation that exploits the image of the ghost. Fuata worked in situ at The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre, haunting and/or being possessed by the practices and artworks of the other artists, absorbing and embodying fragments of their works to become part of a performance, which is presented as a post improvisation film.

A Sheet as sail is a part of our Terra inFirma: Sovereignty and Memory program which has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.

A Sheet as sail is co-produced by the ANTI Festival International Prize for Live Art, organized by ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival, Kuopio, Finland, and funded by the Saastamoinen Foundation and the Kone Foundation.

Brian Fuata is shortlisted for the 2020 ANTI Festival International Prize for Live Art:  www.liveartprize.com
